AnyZip Luggage Review: Surprisingly Spacious, Stylish, and Affordable

It’s not a brand like Samsonite or Tumi, but after a good hands-on with the 20-inch size (and pouring over thousands of real customer reviews), I have to say I was surprised by how much AnyZip gets right for the price. If you need a lightweight, hard-shell carry-on with style for infrequent travel, you should at least consider it—especially if you care about packing organization, smooth wheels, and a clean modern design.

Build Quality & Materials: Good Balance of Rigid and Light

The AnyZip rolling carry-on is made from a composite plastic shell of ABS+PC. That actually means:

• ABS makes it flexible without being too heavy
• Polycarbonate (PC) adds toughness and scratch resistance

Out of the box, the texture and stiffness of the exterior shell is sturdy but less “high-end” looking than a $400 suitcase, for example. But it didn’t crack, dent, or show major scuffs when testing scrapes, drops, and overpacking abuse.

AnyZip may only be a 20-inch carry-on size (overall with wheels and handles extended it’s 22.6” long), but the interior uses the space smartly to offer more room than you might expect.

• Waterproof pocket for toiletries and electronics

In total I was able to pack more than I expected for a 5-day trip, including:

• 4 T-shirts
• 2 sweaters
• 1 light jacket
• 2 pairs of shoes
• Toiletry bag and chargers

I especially appreciated the waterproof pocket on the interior, as it saved me when a shampoo travel bottle leaked all over during the flight.

The built-in interior structure also keeps things organized instead of everything shifting around when you open the suitcase.

Rolling & Maneuverability: Very Smooth

One of the stand-out features of the AnyZip rolling carry-on is just how easy it rolls:

I tested it on hard flooring, carpet, sidewalks, and hotel and airport hallways and the wheels were impressively smooth everywhere. It doesn’t budge around, and doesn’t get hard to control when fully loaded either.

Real world note: one tradeoff if you mostly pull luggage long distances outdoors on cobblestones or broken pavement is that the wheels won’t be as solid as premium ones like the Samsonite Freeform line. But for regular inside-the-terminal-to-taxi-to-hotel-to-lobby use? AnyZip is excellent. solid. But for typical terminal-to-taxi-to-hotel use? AnyZip nails it.

One Key Tip:

For the very few situations where you will be traveling in torrential downpours, always a smart practice with any suitcase under $300 that is not going to be truly watertight: use packing cubes or a waterproof liner inside the main compartment. Hard-shell suitcases have their limits.

It won’t have surprise gate-checks at the airport or on international flights, and still has room for 5–6 days of packing if you are smart about what you bring.

Final Thoughts: Solid Carry-On Bag at Budget Price

The AnyZip 20-inch rolling carry-on isn’t going to hold a candle to luxury or professional-grade luggage for the super frequent traveler. But for the occasional traveler, weekend trips, or budget travelers who need a solid hard-shell carry-on with a bit of style, it’s a great value.

You get the good stuff like modern looks, decent packing capacity, easy rolling, and some nice touches in the details for much lower than many of the bigger names.

Just be realistic: if you travel every week or push your gear through super rough service and constant gate-checks you may want to spend more. But for 9 out of 10 travelers? This is a solid bag that gets the job done with panache.
