Best Luggage for Suits: Travel Without Wrinkles or Stress

Heading to a wedding, clinching a deal on a business trip, or just want to dress to impress wherever you’re traveling? Packing a suit can’t just be a “fold it and throw it in” affair. Trust me, I’ve made that mistake. Hotel room, unpack suitcase, and inside I find a crumpled blazer and wrinkled dress pants staring back at me.

Over the years, I’ve tried more luggage for suits than I can count. Let me show you my favorite options. Bags and suitcases designed with formalwear in mind that have worked best to keep suits wrinkle-free.

We’re talking fully-functional garment bags all the way to duffels and weekenders with integrated suit storage.

Why You Need Specialized Luggage for Suits

Suit jackets and dress pants are notoriously fragile. They need proper care to avoid jetlag wrinkles, crushed lapels, or folded knees.

Your typical carry-on or travel duffle can do an acceptable job, but they’re not specialized for a suit. They’re not made with wrinkle-resistant interiors, compression panels, or straps to keep your formalwear in place during a flight.

Suit-friendly luggage features that make all the difference:

  • Flat or folded garment sections
  • Straps and hanging brackets for suit jackets
  • Wrinkle-resistant interiors and materials
  • Separate compartments and shoe pockets
  • Airline carry-on compliant for less chance of getting lost in checked luggage
  • Let’s review the best suit-friendly luggage I’ve found and used.

Briggs & Riley Baseline Garment Duffle: Best Overall Hybrid

Briggs & Riley Travel Duffel Bag

Briggs & Riley Travel Duffel Bag

4.5 / 5 ((248))

I’ve had this bag with me for a while, from New York to Singapore and back several times over. The Briggs & Riley Baseline Garment Duffle is the perfect hybrid between a duffel and a garment bag.

Appearing as a normal duffel bag, it opens flat and provides a proper suit storage section, with space for your other clothes.

Real World Use

I packed a complete suit with matching dress shirt, belt, and a pair of shoes. Suit jacket in the garment section, folded pants in the storage section.

The suit jacket pocket, lined with a wrinkle resistant fabric, allows for the blazer to hang flat on the special hanger bracket. Internal compression wings help keep the jacket and pants from moving inside the bag.

It is compliant with all major US and international airline carry-on size requirements, and it fits in overhead bins even on smaller regional jets.

Pros:

  • Smart, practical hybrid design
  • Suit and casual clothes in one bag
  • Excellent construction quality

Cons:

  • On the pricey side
  • Heavier than typical duffels

Hook & Albert Garment Weekender: Most Stylish Option

Hook + Albert Waxed Canvas Garment Weekender Bag

Hook + Albert Waxed Canvas Garment Weekender Bag

3 / 5 ((43))

Hook & Albert offers both style and function with their Garment Weekender. It has received many compliments during my time in airport lounges.

Appearing as a high-end duffel bag, it can unzip and extend fully into a complete garment bag. Magic.

Real World Use

This was a trip to Napa for a wedding, and I wanted to be at my sharpest. I packed a full tux with matching dress shoes, and a couple of extra shirts and casual outfits. The suit came out of the bag ready for the limo. Wrapped around design keeps the jacket perfectly protected.

I really liked the included shoe pocket to keep soles from touching other items. Wrinkle protection is excellent, although be gentle when folding pants. Leather finishing is a nice bonus as well.

Pros:

  • Fashionable and sleek
  • Wraparound garment bag design
  • Room for 2-3 days of clothes

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • Not great for long trips

Travelpro Crew VersaPack Carry-On with Suiter: Best for Frequent Flyers

Travelpro Crew Versapack Softside Expandable

Travelpro Crew Versapack Softside Expandable

4.5 / 5 ((200))

Travelpro is a personal favorite. I’ve used their luggage on dozens of trips and have always been happy with their bags and performance. Their Crew VersaPack Carry-On has one of the best values and comes with a removable suiter.

Real World Use

This is a great bag for frequent business travelers who have only one-day events and don’t mind if their suit is not in “pressed” condition when they arrive.

Suit folds in gently and then snaps into place on the lid of the bag to keep your blazer or dress neatly folded. It’s not as protective as a full garment bag, but good enough for one-day suits.

Interior on this bag is very well organized, and it slides like butter on its PrecisionGlide wheels through terminals.

Pros:

  • Removable suiter included
  • Very durable and lightweight
  • Traveler-friendly features and design

Cons:

  • Suiter quality is basic, not great for full suits
  • Better for short trips.

ZEGUR Suit Carry-On Garment Bag: Best Budget Pick

ZEGUR Premium Suit Garment Bag Carry On

ZEGUR Premium Suit Garment Bag Carry On

4.6 / 5 ((10,509))

If you are after a dedicated garment bag that isn’t going to break the bank, the ZEGUR Suit Carry-On Garment Bag delivers surprisingly well.

Real World Use

I used this one on a 3-day conference trip. It holds up to 2 suits with shoes and some accessories. Interior straps help keep things from sliding around too much.

Suit folds in thirds, and the bag meets all major airline carry-on size restrictions. For the price point, the material and zipper quality exceeded expectations.

Pros:

  • Budget-friendly
  • Lightweight and compact
  • Room for 2 full suits

Cons:

  • No wheels
  • Interior not structured, you have to be more careful with packing

Vocier C38 Garment Bag: Best for Luxury Business Travel

If you are in the market for the Bentley of garment luggage, you’ll want to check out Vocier’s C38.

Garment bags are designed with folds in the chest of a suit in mind. This bag avoids them by being designed specifically for suits, and has a curved hanger and clamshell construction.

Real World Use

Used this one on a recent work trip in Europe. Suit arrived in near perfect condition after two flights. Interior pockets and compartments were very well thought through. Even has a clear liquid pouch and internal compartments for tech.

It screams “executive” in all the right ways.

Pros

  • Minimal fold suit storage
  • Luxury interior design
  • Airport-friendly

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Not designed for extended trips

Victorinox Werks Traveler 6.0 Garment Sleeve: Best for Modular Packing

Victorinox Werks Traveler 6.0 Softside Frequent Flyer Carry-On - Expandable Spinner Luggage for Travel Essentials - Includes Integrated USB Cable - 32 Liters, Black

Victorinox Werks Traveler 6.0 Softside Frequent Flyer Carry-On - Expandable Spinner Luggage for Travel Essentials - Includes Integrated USB Cable - 32 Liters, Black

4.2 / 5 ((132))

This is a slightly different pick. It isn’t a full bag by itself, but rather a modular garment sleeve designed to fit inside Victorinox’s Traveler 6 series luggage.

Real World Use

I packed this sleeve with a suit and placed it in my checked suitcase on a week-long trip. Sleeves keep your suit completely flat, and it is easily integrated with packing cubes as well.

Fun bonus: it is removable, so you can hang your suit as soon as you get to your destination.

Pros:

  • Modular, versatile design
  • Great for existing Victorinox suitcase fans
  • Lightweight and easy to use

Cons:

  • Less protective than a dedicated bag

TUMI Alpha Garment Bag: Best Rolling Garment Bag

TUMI - Alpha Garment Bag

TUMI - Alpha Garment Bag

4.3 / 5 ((32))

If you prefer wheels, the TUMI Alpha Garment Bag is the Cadillac of garment luggage. Perfect for those travelers who carry 2-3 suits on a trip and want everything organized and flat.

Real World Use

This was a destination wedding with multiple events during the week, so I needed to pack 2 suits, 1 tux, shirts, and shoes. Zip-around design, interior garment hooks, and shoe/accessory pockets made packing easy. It’s not lightweight, but it’s sturdy.

Pros:

  • Can hold multiple suits
  • TUMI quality construction

Cons:

  • Very expensive
  • Large footprint

How to Pack a Suit in Your Suit-Friendly Luggage

Regardless of the specific bag you get, here are my general tips on how to pack a suit like a pro:

  • Use a good hanger with a wide-shoulder design.
  • Fold jacket inside-out by placing one shoulder into the other.
  • Layer dress shirts or ties in the fold for extra cushioning.
  • Use dry cleaning bags or plastic wrap to reduce friction and static.
  • Separate shoes in a different compartment or bag.

Bonus: Always unpack and hang your suit immediately on arrival.
